Sunday lunch at my house!

My two sons, Jarred and Mark, have a ritual on Sundays. They pick up lunch from Snowdon Deli (great deli in Montreal!), head to my house and then Charles, myself and the boys have lunch. Only, as you may have guessed, I didn’t eat what they had!

The three of them sat there smacking their lips and enjoying each bite all while laughing at my lunch choice. I had fruit and cottage cheese topped with my Superfood Granola and was loving every morsel of it.

I don’t believe in diets, I believe in the 80/20 Rule. Aim to choose healthy foods 80% of the time and 20% is for the flexibility to indulge in that sweet/salty tooth (or other food choices) you have so that you don’t feel like you’re dieting. When you start to make the majority of your food choices healthier ones, your body will begin to crave those foods less because your body will feel stronger and you’ll have more energy. You will always like the ‘not as healthy’ foods that you do, but perhaps you’ll modify your meal and have a smaller portion and possibly swap the fries for a side salad?

So, did I pass on the Snowdon Deli sandwich because it wasn’t healthy? Nooooo. It was because I’m not a huge fan of cold cuts and I really do love fruit and cottage cheese. Now, if they were eating cheesecake or ice cream for lunch, that would be a whole different story and I wouldn’t be eating fruit and cottage cheese!

Food is meant to be enjoyed. I call it being mindful and believe in the 80/20 rule!

What is your favorite indulgence?
I’d love for you to share in the comments below 🙂
