Instant Pot Chunky Applesauce

A Few Words…

During my kitchen renovation I realized just how much I really depend on being prepared. I miss prepping my veggies, fruits, and having healthier choices available!

I’ve had an Instant Pot for 5 years and only in the past few weeks have I really used and appreciated it. Steel cut oats, rice, hard boiled eggs were easy to make in it – now I can add applesauce to my list!

This recipe was so easy, so yummy and my house smells so good!

Makes about 6 cups of applesauce

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 pounds of your favorite apples, cored, peeled and roughly chopped. I like making it with the peel and some apples without the peel. Your preference!
  • 1/4 water
  • Fresh juice from 1/2 a lemon
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • Handful of raisins (optional)
  • Directions:
Place the chopped apples, water, lemon juice, cinnamon and raisins in the bowl of a 6-quart Instant Pot. Secure the lid and turn the steam release valve at the top to "sealing". If using a different type of machine, please use their cooking instructions.

Press the Manual button on your machine, set to high pressure for 8 minutes and then let the machine do it's magic!

When the cooking cycle is complete, allow the pressure to naturally release or turn the steam release valve to "venting" to release any remaining pressure. When done, carefully remove the lid and stir the applesauce by hand or you can use a hand immersion blender if you want a smooth consistency. If you find it too liquidy, just remove some using a spoon.

This is great to store in the fridge to have during the week.

    - Try adding a square of dark chocolate (or some chocolate chips!) for a great snack - love this!
