How Do You Like Your Oats?

Some days I like to add a cut up baked apple on top with a sprinkle of cinnamon!

Breakfast is important to me. Actually, it’s my favorite meal of the day (notice that I didn’t say ‘food’ because ice cream is my absolute favorite thing to eat!!)

I love oatmeal and I could have it every day for breakfast, but I don’t. Some days it holds me and keeps me satisfied until lunch and other days, it just doesn’t. Do you find that happens to you too?

My solution? Change things up! You can change the way you make your oatmeal and use unsweetened almond milk (or your favorite non-dairy milk) instead of water.

The other day I made overnight oats. So yummy! Have you ever made oatmeal like that? So easy too! You could try different variations and that way you’ll have a new taste every time you make it!

Here’s an easy recipe:

  • 1/3 cup uncooked oatmeal
  • 1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt or regular yogurt
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk ( you can use any non-dairy milk or regular milk)
  • 1 tbs. chia seeds (or ground flax seeds)

The night before you plan to eat it, combine the oats, almond milk and yogurt in a bowl or container with a lid. Cover and let sit overnight in the fridge. The next morning stir well and you add sliced bananas or any other fruit, or a teaspoon of seeds or nuts to it – the possibilities are endless!

It’s like having a new breakfast every time you add something different to it!
