Eat well. Live well.
Have you checked out the changes made to Canada’s Food guide yet?
Health Canada hasn’t updated the food guide since 2007 and and now they’re delivering a new message and vision. Eat well. Live well.
And how do we do that? Healthy eating is more than just about the foods you eat. The government is recommending that you follow some healthy eating tips in order to eat well and live well.
Some of the key points are:
- Be mindful of your eating habits
- Cook more often
- Enjoy your food
- Choose whole grain foods more often
- Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits, grain foods and protein foods
- Read food labels
- Limit highly processed foods
This makes sense! I’ve been been saying this for years and I know I’m not alone in this train of thought! I love that the changes have a human side to it and focus on healthier eating habits. My concern is that there is lack of guidance over portion sizes. For those who are trying to manage their weight or lose weight, remember that just because it’s healthy doesn’t mean that you should go to town and eat as much as you want.
What are your thoughts?
