A Few Words…

Pure comfort food made easy!

Sloppy Joes can be made healthy without using packaged seasonings or canned sauces. All it takes is a few ingredients that you probably have in your kitchen.

Supper was ready in under 30 minutes! Although my plan was to serve the Sloppy Joes with salad, both my boys and Charles (my husband) weren’t interested in the veggies!

Classic Sloppy Joes

Makes 4-6 burgers


  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp. yellow mustard
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbs. brown sugar
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste

Brown the ground beef in a large skillet on medium high heat. Break the beef apart with a spatula and then drain off the liquids well in a colander.

Add the drained beef back to the skillet along with the chopped onions and garlic. Mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes. Stir in the mustard, ketchup and brown sugar, reduce the heat and let simmer for 25-30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Serve on fresh hamburger buns or onion rolls.
